Summary |
Did you know that our CJL Faculty continually engages in professional development outside of CJL hours? This summer, Lane Chazdon, our Kitah Dalet (4th grade) and Hebrew resource teacher, participated in ten hours of training to become certified in Hebrew through Movement, a language acquisition strategy in which students learn Hebrew by hearing and responding to Hebrew commands. Ariela Wehrle, our Hebrew Resource teacher, is also trained in Hebrew through Movement, and enriched her skills through a webinar this summer. Laura Copel, a Kitah Vav instructor, was recently accepted and has enrolled into a graduate level course for Teacher Leaders through HUC- JIR in New York. Judy Kropf, our Kitah Hay and Pathway to Confirmation Teacher, just became certified through Moving Traditions as a Rosh Hodesh leader. Stacy Shapiro, a new member of our Kitah Zayin Faculty, and Judy Kropf recently spent their day learning how to teach Israel@70 through the Jewish Education Project. Betsy Deckert, our Kitah Dalet, Kitah Zayin teacher and TIPSY advisor, recently participated in a URJ webinar entitled, "How to strengthen congregational youth programs by leveraging the lessons of camp." Yasher Koach (Hebrew for congratulations) to our CJL Faculty - may they skills be strengthened by their dedication to learning!
