Caring Committee
Caring for our community
Thank You to those who have donated to the Caring Committee fund!
It is your generosity which helps the committee serve the Temple Israel community in some of life's most challenging moments. Here are some of the initiatives that the Caring Committee engages in:
- Organizing meals for those who are ill
- Providing the first meal for Shiva if the congregant expresses an interest in us doing so
- Delivering Baskets of Bliss to welcome new babies into the community with a Jewish-themed baby basket
- Coordinating drivers to help congregants get to medical appointments
- Participating in Share-a-Shabbat with developmentally disabled adults
We are looking to start a visiting program where we visit congregants who are ill or homebound. Also, we are working with the sixth grade on sending get well cards to people who are ill.
The Caring Committee uses a website-based program that easily organizes meal deliveries when they are needed. It’s called “Take Them a Meal”. If you are interested in providing this service for people in our community who are unable to cook for themselves, please let us know. A purchased meal is welcome, if you prefer not to prepare a meal.
